DSSC RCIC Concludes Student Internship with Coffee Appreciation Training
The Regional Coffee Innovation Center (RCIC) of Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) conducted a Training on Coffee Appreciation, followed by the culmination of the internship of students from the Agroforestry and Agribusiness Departments and the awarding of their certificates of completion.
Held on August 5, 2026 at the RCIC Training Room, the activity was participated by the student interns, together with Dr. Regie D. Patagoc, RCIC Director; Jovie Cañada, MSc, Agroforestry Department Head; and Alvin P. Crodua, RAgr, AO II.
The Coffee Appreciation Training provided the students with additional knowledge and practical understanding of coffee beyond their internship experience. It introduced them to the sensory aspects of coffee and how its quality can be appreciated and evaluated through different sensory attributes. Through guided discussions and sensory exercises, the students learned the basic principles of coffee sensory evaluation and experienced identifying and distinguishing different coffee characteristics. Following the training, the students formally concluded their internship at the Center through a culmination program and the awarding of certificates of completion, recognizing their successful completion of the program.
The DSSC Regional Coffee Innovation Center continues to provide practical learning opportunities that complement students’ academic preparation and strengthen their knowledge and appreciation of the coffee value chain.
